THE ORIGIN STORY
Tessellate Vintage was born out of equal parts necessity and passion.
I started this little business in July of 2022 as part of a process of recovery. After working in COVID-19 communications—where everything was urgent and work-life balance went by the wayside—I ended up on sick leave and was forced to reckon with the path I was on.
I made the scariest decision of my life and quit. After a lot of introspection and countless chats with friends and family, I realized that vintage and art were the things that lit my heart on fire. And so, Tessellate was born!
Since then, I've been welcomed into this community of kindred spirits and I feel like I've found my forever home.
THE STUFF WE CARE ABOUT
Sustainability, baby
Shopping secondhand does the double duty of keeping items out of landfills and reducing the demand for cheaply-made home decor from big box stores or certain ahem notorious online retailers.
Local love
Proudly based out of Hamilton, Ontario, we believe in championing the other local businesses that make our city great. If you’re picking up an order, there are tons of local coffee shops, restaurants, boutiques and more in the area - stay a while!

WHO’S WHO
Robyn Obermeyer
Hey, it’s me! Owner, operator, and curator of all the vintage goodies. I’ve got a background in English Literature and come from a career in writing and communications. But that’s the boring stuff - I also spend my time cooking unnecessarily elaborate meals, playing cozy video games, watching sitcom reruns, listening to very sad music, and adventuring with my spouse & dog.
Kyle Birch
Primary support person and Chief Door Holder for Tessellate Vintage. As Robyn’s spouse, you’ll see Kyle toting boxes at markets, corralling the Shop Dog during customer pickups, and generally helping out because, you know, marriage. By day Kyle gets people moving again in their job as a physiotherapist. Otherwise you’ll find them playing games of all kinds, whether it’s Dungeons & Dragons, strategy board games, or the newest indie video game title.
Artemis (a.k.a. Artie)
Our shop dog! A very attentive supervisor, Artemis makes sure everything at Tessellate Vintage runs smoothly. Primary duties include new stock inspection, customer greeting, mandatory break enforcement, and general staff wellness support. Oh, and being cute. Very important.
