This book, published in 1972, is listed in the opening pages as dedicated to "the spirit of the owl". An absolutely stunning marriage of art, science and story, "The Nightwatchers" begins by discussing the morphology and mythology of owls, then details individual breeds with information on things like their habitat, diet, and identifiable markers.

The artwork was what ultimately drew me to this book - nearly every page includes a stunning illustration in such a unique style. Under the dust jacket, the book's cover is a lovely neutral linen and would look beautiful on a coffee table.

Condition: Dust cover has a few marks and minor tears/folding. Some age spots on the edge of pages. Otherwise beautiful condition for being over 50 years old!
